Exciting new QTIS Sale, Race and Bonus Series gets the nod

Queensland Racing Limited (QRL) and the Magic Millions Sales Company tonight announced a two year agreement that will provide for the conduct of an “All QTIS” Yearling Sale commencing in March 2009.

This announcement follows many weeks of consultation and provides the Queensland racing and breeding industries with a solid platform to further enhance the overall QTIS scheme.

Whilst the QTIS scheme has served Queensland well for a long period, the linking of a yearling sale restricted to QTIS registered horses with a $4.19M race and bonus series restricted to QTIS eligible horses will significantly increase the appeal of the Queensland product.

In addition to the $4.19M race and bonus series put on by QRL, each horse sold through the QTIS 600 Sale will also be eligible for the lucrative $5.975M Magic Millions Race & Bonus Series.

In total, yearlings sold through the QTIS 600 Sale will be eligible for $10.165M in race and bonuses through the payment of $3,300 (inc. GST).

“Tonight’s announcement provides increased incentive for owner’s to invest within the Queensland Racing industry,” QRL Chairman Mr Bob Bentley said.

“When considering that QTIS 600 Sale horses will race for in excess of $10M in additional races and bonuses, it’s a compelling reason for both seasoned racehorse owners and those wishing to dip their toe in the water for the first time, to be at the Magic Millions in March 2009.”

In addition to the highly successful $5.975M Magic Millions race and bonus series, listed below are the benefits associated with entry into QRL’s QTIS 600 race and bonus series.

“In addition to the 12 restricted races totalling $1.5M, the ability for horses to compete for double QTIS bonuses throughout their two-year-old season will reignite interest in younger racing stock throughout Queensland,” Mr Bentley said.

“For too long stakeholders in regional Queensland have been happy to accept cast off’s from interstate, it is expected that tonight’s announcement will change the buying rational of Queensland stakeholders.”

In addition to the $4.19M QTIS 600 race and bonus series, QRL will also implement the following changes to the QTIS scheme from January 1, 2009.

  • Increase Provincial QTIS Bonuses from $7,000 to $10,000
  • Fund the full complement of the QTIS bonus on all divided QTIS races.

“This initiative has been the result of a large amount of consultation and the strong relationship that exists between both Queensland Racing Limited and Magic Millions,” Mr Bentley said.

“I applaud the foresight of Magic Millions and their willingness to assist the racing and breeding industries within Queensland, I look forward to this relationship continuing well into the future.”

Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said: “Since the inception of the current Queensland Racing Limited Board they have displayed their dedication to the Queensland racing industry, this is another display by this Board of their readiness to support all sectors of the industry.”

“Magic Millions is proud of our relationship with the Queensland racing and breeding industries and this new sale, race and bonus series will seal the future of racing and breeding within this State.”

More information on the March QTIS 600 Sale and the QTIS 600 Race and Bonus series will be available on both the Queensland Racing Limited and Magic Millions websites in the coming days.
