QTIS winners August 16-17

Doomben – August 16
JAZZ HEART 3c Show A Heart – Bluedanu (Danzero)
WON Lyndhurst Stud Hcp (1200m); QTIS $53,000
O-S Leszczewicz; B-S & J Leszczewicz
T-Bryan Guy (Gold Coast)
Retained by breeder
Jazz Heart was suited when the leading division cutting out slick sectionals in the first half of this QTIS event at Doomben. It helped him round up the field with a brilliant burst down the centre of the track.
"He's a lovely, relaxed horse," jockey Ric McMahon said. "He'll get a lot further than 1200m and the mile won't be a problem if he goes down for the Caulfield Guineas."
If Jazz Heart makes it to the Caulfield Guineas he'll be attempting to emulate Show A Heart who won the Group 1 feature in 2000.
Glenlogan Park based Show A Heart got the winner from an Eagle Farm winning mare who hails from the family of Prime Address (Alzao). He collected 12 wins from 1000m to 2128m highlighted by a G3 victory in the VATC Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.
Bluedanu has a 2yo Falvelon colt who sold for $120,000 at the 2008 Gold Coast Magic Millions when offered by Royston Stud. The dam was served by Hotel Grand last year.

Gold Coast – August 16
FANGLES 4g Falvelon – Speranto (Esperanto)
WON King Springs Hcp (1200m); QTIS $12,700
O-R & P Collins, W Burrows; B-R Collins
T-Stephen Jones (Gold Coast)
Retained by breeder
Fangles sat outside the leader and was going like a winner a long way from home. Trained locally by Stephen Jones, the Falvelon gelding has furnished into a magnificent type.
“He’s 17 hands and was still maturing as an autumn three year-old,” Jones said. “The spell has done him the world of good. He thickened right up and is going to be a nice horse, alright."
Fangles won two in a row over 1200m at Ipswich earlier this year and was spot on for his first-up assignment after winning a barrier trial.
“There’s plenty of improvement to come,” Jones promised. “Now we will look for a race in town.”
Fangles is one of six to race from Speranto and all of them are winners. The dam is a half-sister to Dashing Vagabond (Amun'Ra) who won 18 races from 1000m to 1400m including the Listed QTC Ascot Hcp.

Innisfail – August 16
THEYDON GROVE 4g Our Maizcay - What's The Buzz (Brocco)

T-Jenny Ball (Mareeba)
$4,000 buy 2006 Magic Millions Summer Sale; V-Moranjee T’breds
Theydon Grove had weighed out at Ipswich and Gold Coast before transferring north in June. He started a $2.50 favourite at Innisfail and scored by a half-neck. He is by former slick sprinter Our Maizcay and his dam is an unraced half-sister to Hot Secret (Kenmare) who racked up 18 wins in NSW.
Theydon Grove is a half-brother to Aunty Betty (Encounter), a G3 winner of the STC Birthday Card Stakes at Rosehill. She was sold at the 2008 Magic Millions Broodmare Sale for $120,000 to Blue Sky Thoroughbreds.
What's The Buzz has a yearling colt by Barely A Moment and was covered by Not A Single Doubt last December.

WON Samios Plumbing Supplies Plate (1200m); QTIS $6,375
O-M Jackson & B Brummell; B-Murrayfield T’breds
T-Jim Jackson (Richmond)
Not catalogued 2004 majors
Hamingja had won at Gold Coast in April prior to her transfer to the North-west. She was unplaced at Corfield earlier this month after being obliged to race wide but made no mistake on an away trip to Mt Isa last Saturday. The winner is from the last crop of Buck’s Pride (Pride Of Kellina). His dam is related to stakes winner sprinter-miler Malta (Youthful Legs). She has been covered by Gainsborough Lodge sire Immovable Option (Fairy King) for the last three seasons.

Toowoomba – August 16
KICK OFF  3c Ball Ball-San - Midnight Jester (Crown Jester)
WON Fibber Magee Irish Pub Maiden (1015m) QTIS $11,400
O-K & C McCasker; B-K McCasker
T-Mark Currie (Toowoomba)
Passed-in $4,500 2007 Capricorn Sale; V-Greenvale Park
Longshot Kick Off ($41) didn’t fire on debut at Ipswich in July, however, he showed immense improvement to score by a nose under 3kg claimer Cameron Dixon at Toowoomba. He is by Ball Ball-San (Green Desert) who stands at Greenvale Park in the heart of the Darling Downs alongside Parameter, Skilful Star and Wishart. Kick Off’s dam was a juvenile winner and is closely related to Weigh (Biscay), a Listed 2yo winner of the VRC Red Roses Stakes. She has a 2yo filly named Justabitofsilver (Canadian Silver) and she produced another colt by Ball Ball-San last September.

Sunshine Coast - August 17
CASH FORTUNE 3f Aucash - Fortune's Folly (Greenlander)
WON B & N Guest Builders Maiden (1200m); QTIS $11,400
O-I & T Russell & S Clan; B-N Stewart
T-Lloyd Brazier (Sunshine Coast)
$2,500 buy 2006 MM National Weanling Sale; V-Oaklands Stud
Cash Fortune drew the fence so jockey Jana Piper stuck to the rails run and sprinted to a winning lead at the furlong. Cash Fortune is by former Oaklands Stud sire Aucash, a Danehill half-brother to Saintly, who won feature races in Hong Kong. Cash Fortune is the first foal of Fortune's Folly who is a descendant of Caulfield stakes winner Queen Of Angels (Without Fear). She has a 2yo colt and a yearling colt by ill-fated Oaklands Stud sire Tsuimai. She was served by Za-Im last September.
